There are lots of ways that you can help us, including:
Publicising our organisation or introducing others who might want to rehome hens
Transporting some additional hens when you collect your own, to someone who cannot get to the co-ordination centre
Helping to transport hens from the farm to co-ordination centres using a van or trailer - we can re-imburse hire fees if relevant
Offering to co-ordinate the distribution of 50 - 100 hens from your home to agreed rehomers in your local area
Loan of poultry crates or dog cages
Storing some crates for us between rescues
Donating money which we will use for buying crates, hiring vehicles etc
Making a donation
We make no profit and are entirely dependant upon the generosity of our
volunteers and rehomers to be able to continue to give these
deserving little hens a fresh start, so please be as generous as you can as every penny you give makes a real difference!
Click here to donate Please include you name and the collection centre specified on your application form if you are donating for hens. This ensures we can easily match up your payment and your application.
Offering other help
If you would like to offer any sort of help, from admin to driving to co-ordination to donating cardboard boxes or crates, please contact us using the form below. (Please don't use this form to ask for hens - click here instead if you want to ask for hens). All our volunteers are required to follow our Volunteers' Code, which is given below, and to work in accordance with our operational policy, which is set out on our Helpers Website, www.hr-uk-support.info
Volunteers' Code
Everyone who helps in the work of Hen Rehomers UK is required to confirm that they will follow this code:
All HR-UK volunteers will:
work legally, ethically and in line with our objectives
respect the privacy and confidentiality of our rehomers, farmers and volunteers
obtain the agreement of HR-UK before engaging in any publicity
read fully and work in accordance with the HR-UK operational policy as described in our helpers website, www.hr-uk-support.info
Any failure to follow this code may result in the organisation losing the trust and confidence of the farmers and rehomers without whom we cannot undertake this work. It may thereby result in hens being slaughtered instead of rehomed. If any volunteer is uncertain about whether a course of action would result in a breach of this code, or wants more information about the background to it, or feels that an exception should be made in relation to a particular issue or action, they should contact the central team who will be happy to advise and discuss further.
